| The grandest thing about The Grand Design is its title and attractive front illustration. Otherwise, this is a most superficial and preposterous book which certainly adds little to the debate between science and religion, and once again, shows how credentials in science allow anyone to philosophize about the meaning of it all as if their scientific mantle confers a certain 'infalliblity' upon them. As Blavatsky stated in 1888, "in our day, the scientists are even more opinionated than the clergy." Scientists, like Hawking, Sagan and Weinberg, present their own personal biases and dogmas as if based on 'real science,' instead of simply being their own philosophy, and a superficial one at that. The Grand Design provides only glimpses of modern theories in physics and the most preposterous declarations about what they all mean. |

Not too bleeping much according to Dr. Holmes, who presents a radical critique of this popular new age movie nightmare. This new age movie represents a
completely erroneous and fanciful understanding of the nature of human
beings, and the mysteries of consciousness and the mind. It
ignores the most important questions and evidences concerning the
issues of consciousness, the heart, spirit and soul, and obscures the
truth more than illuminating it. New age concepts are dressed up
in a superficial quasi-scientific manner, and huge gaps remain between
the quantum world and the world of the psyche or spirit. The
movie fosters numerous mis-understandings and confusion, although it
certainly has some valuable elements. It begins nicely with the
Void, but everything else is downhill. Read Dr. Holmes' critical
review and alternative perspective, and his recommendations for film
makers. |
